Will You Fight Back?

Sometimes the weight of the world
Rests on your shoulders
Other times it
Jumps on your back
Grabs you around the neck
And repeatedly
Punches you in the face
Punches you in the face
When your own parents
Believe your truths to be lies
It presses on your windpipe
Choking you
Suffocating you
Enjoying watching you suffer as you die
When every door slams in your face
And the only one left ajar
Bears flesh-eating viruses
And soul sucking monsters
It kicks you in the skin
And punches you in the stomach
When every responsibility
Is left in your hands
It bashes in your kneecaps
Shatters your wrists
And breaks your nose
Sometimes the weight of the world
Only rests on your shoulders
Where you can brush it away
But other times
It grabs you by the arm
And breaks every finger
It tears at your hair
And claws at your eyes
Trips you
Shoves you
Then spits on you when it has you down
But when it thinks you're finished
And turns to walk away
Will you get up
Or let it get away?
