Nestle Not on Cool, Cotton Linen
Under pallid pink light,
Spring stripes glow rosy
Peaking from under a calico material garden
Bound with frayed sunshine yarn,
In desperate need of washing.
Suicidal pillows
Trimmed in mercuric rainbow lace
Cuddle exposed wood in cerulean -
Used and abused -
With cherry dye and bubblegum residue.
Nestle not on cool, cotton linen
But on navy and eggshell fleece,
Oversized and hooded,
Smelling once of soap and deodorant,
The cream between cheek and chest.
Nuzzled against vertical violet,
A fast firmament for fatigue
Whispers slowing heartbeat,
Once spread crisp and clean,
Wrinkled in darkness and day.
