Anger: Pieces and Faces

Anger rises from within
From years of suppression
From not feeling bad
From fear of being scolded
     For being mad

Anger expressed outwardly
     Punished
     Chastised
     Mistreated

Anger turned inward
Overwhelming guilt, rage, sadness
Cut the pain
Bad feelings must die
     Unacceptable

Anger because
Boundaryless
Uncontrolled
Hands off
     Too young for dreams
     Too old for age
Abandoned
Neglected
Broken

Anger toward the example
     Take the key
     Lock the negative up
     No one knows
Shiny, happy, smile
Quasi, pseudo, fake

Anger feels wrong
     Shattered, shattered, shattered
Reprimanded for expression
     No more yelling
     No more screaming
     No more crying
     No more fighting
Smile and be normal
Smile and be perfect
Smile and sink away

Anger is imperfect
     Unhealthy
     Abnormal
Push the bad away
Hind behind a façade
Never allow the hurt to show

Anger rises from within
     Years and years of smothering
     From within
     Forced from without
     No longer withdrawn
Embrace the anger
Embrace the rage
Embrace the negative
     Forsaken now regarded
     Silent now revealed
     Unacceptable now recognized

Anger embraced like a child
     Acquiesced
     Encouraged
     Held and loved
     Fades away
     To wholeness
